Cottonwood Heights Arts Council is Celebrating 15 Years of Magic

The Cottonwood Heights Arts Council’s annual musical productions—a tradition that began with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat back in 2010 and has since brought us fifteen unforgettable summers filled with music, storytelling, laughter, and the kind of stage magic only community theatre brings to life.

What inspires me year after year is the incredible talent that comes together on this stage. Our casts, crews, and production teams include teachers, doctors, musicians, students, parents, and neighbors-all by a shared love for the arts. I’ve seen new performers walk into auditions for the very first time never having sung or danced in front of an audience—completely unaware of just how spectacular they truly are. Everyone involved devotes countless hours to learning lines, mastering choreography, rehearsing songs, building sets, and creating costumes. Then, piece by piece, it all comes together—never quite knowing what magic will unfold. Not for recognition, but for the pure joy of creating something meaningful together.

Over the years, our stage has transformed into unforgettable worlds. We’ve seen a scarecrow needing a brain, a girl survive a hard-knock life, and a mermaid chat with a crab. A beauty fell for a beast, a golden ticket led to pure imagination, and gamblers bet it all on love. We’ve watched a kid take down a terrifying principal, ogres find friendship, and glass slippers go missing. And this year, we bolt into a mythological quest filled with gods, monsters, winged shoes, and one very important lightning bolt.

Community theatre is a rare and beautiful thing. It’s where imagination thrives, where a humble stage becomes a castle, a schoolhouse, or a candy factory. It’s where families gather, friendships are forged, and magic is made. When you step into this theatre, you don’t just watch a performance—you’re transported into a new world, shaped by heart, effort, and community.

We were absolutely thrilled that Cottonwood Heights Arts Council’s production of Beauty and the Beast 🥀 won the BroadwayWorld Salt Lake Award for Best Costume Design of a Play or Musical for 2024! 🏆👗

A huge congratulations to our incredibly talented Costume Designer, Lauri Baird @lauri_baird , whose stunning work brought our characters to life in the most magical way. Her creativity, skill, and vision truly made this show unforgettable.
