Student Artists
Ages 5–12
Our youngest artists explore traditional Chinese culture through the 24 Solar Terms. As students explore brush techniques and playful imagery, they naturally develop an early connection to the heritage behind the art.
Ages 12 and above
Older students engage in Chinese calligraphy, studying the historical origins and evolution of characters. Students learn how strokes, structures, and etymology reflect the evolution of Chinese culture. At this level, they are also encouraged to combine fundamental elements of traditional Chinese painting—dots, lines, and spatial composition—with aspects of modern Western aesthetics, cultivating a cross-cultural artistic perspective and their own expressive voice.
Featured Teachers
Teacher Lin – Lin Yang
Lin Yang’s artistic practice is rooted in Eastern traditions and lifted by a contemporary visual sensibility. She blends the spirit and rhythm of classical Chinese calligraphy and painting with modern compositional aesthetics, giving ancient artistic language a renewed contemporary pulse.
Her works center on ink, negative space, rhythm, and movement—an exploration of the vitality of brushstrokes, the fluidity of breath, and the spatial depth of poetic imagery. By boldly integrating modern composition and cross-cultural aesthetics, she presents traditional Eastern forms in ways that resonate with today’s audience.
Teacher Yue – Cuizhen Domke
Cuizhen Domke specializes in traditional Chinese ink brush painting and mural painting. Her works include flower-and-bird paintings, ink-splashing art, and clay panel murals. Building on the foundation of traditional painting, she reinterprets it through her creative process, conveying a sense of peace and beauty via her art.
