WFWRD Offers New Mobile App to Help Identify Recyclable Materials
Salt Lake County, UT – Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District (WFWRD) has launched a free mobile app for its residents. It can be found by searching for “Wasatch Front Waste” on the Apple or Android app stores, and it is available in both English and Spanish.
The app includes a “Recycle Right” lookup tool to find out if a material can be reused, recycled, composted or landfilled. Pam Roberts, General Manager, states that, “As consumers, we can’t control the recycling markets, but we can control what we put in our recycling cans. Recycling contamination rates are the focus to lower the costs of recycling, and education is the key.”
With increased outreach and education, contamination rates have been reduced and WFWRD hopes to continue this trend by residents downloading and using this app to help them know what items are allowed in their recycling can.
The app also provides a scheduling tool for residents to confirm their collection day, and it provides an option for customized reminders for their pick-up days. These tools are also available on WFWRD’s website: https://wasatchfrontwaste.org.
WFWRD proudly serves the cities of Cottonwood Heights, Herriman, Holladay, Millcreek, Taylorsville, and portions of Murray and Sandy; the Metro Townships of Copperton, Emigration, Kearns, Magna and White City; the Town of Brighton; and all unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County.
