Important Update: Statewide Fireworks Ban Now in Effect

Due to extreme wildfire conditions across Utah, Governor Spencer Cox has issued a statewide executive order prohibiting the use of all personal fireworks through July 5, 2026.

As a result, personal fireworks are not permitted anywhere in Cottonwood Heights City or throughout Salt Lake County during this period.

The order was issued in response to ongoing drought conditions, elevated temperatures, and the increased risk of catastrophic wildfires. Even a single spark can ignite dry vegetation and threaten homes, neighborhoods, natural open spaces, and public safety.

What Residents Need to Know

• Personal fireworks are prohibited throughout Cottonwood Heights and Salt Lake County through July 5.
• Professional fireworks displays are still permitted and remain the safest way to celebrate the holiday.
• Salt Lake County Emergency Management has updated the county fireworks map to reflect the statewide restrictions.
