Make Some Sandbags, Bring Your Shovel

Make Some Sandbags, Bring Your Shovel

The Cottonwood Heights Emergency Management and Public Works teams are providing free sand, bags, and use of tube-loading equipment for homeowners who want to make sandbags to protect their property against possible springtime runoff flooding. This is a "build your own" project, so bring a shovel. Public Works employees will be there to assist.

The free service will be available at the city's public works yard (3000 East and 6600 South) every Wednesday in April from 4 to 7 p.m. The same service may continue into May or June.

With heavy snowpack, strong spring runoff is possible, so it’s a good idea for those who live near waterways to be prepared.
