Madisen Streich, a 16-year-old lifelong Cottonwood Heights resident was recently honored by the Girl Scouts of Utah with a Gold Award. Madisen is a junior at Brighton High School where she plays on the lacrosse team. The award is given to young women who innovate, take risks and show great leadership in the community. It is the highest and most prestigious award for girls in the organization.

Madisen was diagnosed with Lupus four years ago, and formed a support group for other teens who suffer from this debilitating and painful condition. Madisen’s lacrosse teammates organized a Lupus Walk to help raise awareness and money that goes to research, support services and much-needed medications for those who suffer from Lupus. The team will hold a similar event in the spring of 2018.
