Are you prepared for a major earthquake?  Cottonwood Heights will hold its version of “The Great Utah Shakeout” drill on Saturday, April 18, between 8:00 AM and noon.  This event coincides with similar Utah State and city government drills held throughout the week.

The Cottonwood Heights event will simulate heavy damage throughout the city, and will feature efforts by the Cottonwood Heights Police Department, the Cottonwood Heights Amateur Radio Club (CHARC) and CH Get-Ready, the city volunteer emergency preparedness organization.  Block captains from around the city will gather information on the well-being of residents and it will be sent from various locations via digital radio to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The EOC will be located  in the Cottonwood Heights Incident Command Van, stationed at the Brighton High School parking lot.  Residents are encouraged to participate in this event by hanging their “Emergency Status Ribbon” on Saturday morning and by visiting the EOC at Brighton.
