Time goes very fast.  We are starting our 4th year as a city.  I have enjoyed getting to know so many more people in the city and especially in the 1st District.  It is an honor to serve you and look forward to the future

Bonnie and I along with our four children moved to the area 1962.  We love it here.  We had three more children since then.  Our children are now grown and we have a very large close knit family and have a great relationship with them.  We have started adding great-grandchildren during the past year.

Most of my employment was with General Mills, Inc.  I enjoyed my career very much.  Since my retirement Bonnie and I have had the experience of living several years in Nigeria, Egypt, and Cyprus.  We enjoyed our time with such varied societies.  We appreciate our home land, our United States.  We love living in Cottonwood Heights where we have many friends.  I now have made many more friends over the past three years.

I have attempted to be available and responsive and will make every effort to continue that.  We have progressed in our city, making changes in some departments that have increased service, at the same time at the same or below that which we had as we began.  We will continue to do that direction.  I appreciate our devoted and very able staff.

Some of my assignments:

Representative of District 1.  This is the area between Highland Drive and Union Park Avenue and between I-215 and Creek Road. My most important assignment is to be an asset to the citizens of Cottonwood Heights, and in particular to those in the 1st District who elected me.   I take that very seriously.

Some other assignments I have are:

City Council Representative for Emergency Preparedness.  We are making progress in getting Cottonwood Heights citizens more prepared for any disaster in a neighborhood, the city, or beyond.  We are continually putting things in place the things the city can do.  The most critical need is to help the citizens of Cottonwood Heights is to impress the critical need to be prepared with those items that will sustain you for at least 72 hours

Wasatch Front Regional Council.  This council involves future planning for roads, highways and transportation in the counties along the Wasatch Front.

The Long Range Planning Committee for Ending Homelessness.  There is a representative from each municipality in the county and a number of agencies.  This committee is making progress.  There are thousands in our county who are homeless that are trying to make their way back.  Many homeless are school children, some living out of cars.  This is heart wrenching, but making progress is rewarding.  There are many fine people in agencies working hard to see this happens.

The Valley Emergency Communication Center.  I serve on the Board of Trustees.  This is where all the 9-1-1 emergency calls go.

The Association of Municipal Councils.  I will serve as the chair for 2008.  This consists of members from all 16 cities in the county.  Mainly it is exchanging ideas and focusing on issues that cross city lines.

SaltLake County Natural LandManagement.  This is a short term assignment, having input to the thousands of acres of natural land in the county.  A general plan of action for all areas is being developed that will be consistent across the county.  I was asked because of Little Cottonwood Park that is in 1st District.
